Business

AdipoSeeds' business is based on the proprietary technologies; (1) establishment of ASCL (Adipose-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Line) from ASC (Adipose-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell) in order to overcome the disadvantages of ASC which is isolated from human subcutaneous adipose tissues and (2) differentiation of ASCL into ASCL-PLC (Adipose-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Line-derived Platelet Like Cells).

Our founder and CSO, Dr. Yumiko Matsuhara, and her colleagues, discovered for the first time worldwide that ASC has the ability to differentiate into platelets while being non-hematopoietic cells, and elucidated the mechanism through a long-standing study on platelets.

This finding indicates that platelet production can be achieved by a simple cell culture method without introducing foreign genes using ASC as seed materials. This provides a scientific basis for the low-cost production of safe and medically applicable platelets.

Based on these technologies, we are doing two businesses: (1) a business that develops ASCL-PLC and/or ASCL as regenerative medicine products and (2) a business for PRP therapy (Platelet Rich Plasma therapy which is treatment for tissue restoration using platelets).

Regenerative medicine product development business

We are developing ASCL-PLC and/or ASCL as allogeneic regenerative medicine products with the aim of obtaining Manufacturing and sales approval for the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Law.
ASCL-PLC Adipose-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Line - derived Platelet Like Cells ASCL-PLC
ASCL-PLC has not only the function of hemostasis but also the higher ability to promote restoration and regeneration of tissue than platelet derived from peripheral blood because ASCL-PLC Inherits the characteristics of mesenchymal system cell.

Indication

Refractory Chronic Skin Ulcer, Platelet Transfusion, Tendon Lesion, etc.

ASCL Adipose-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Line ASCL
  • ASCL Is homogeneous high Mesenchymal Stem Cell established by using our original method to overcome the drawback of ASC and satisfles the minimal criterla for defining Mesenchymal Stem Cell by The International Society for Cellular Therapy.
  • ASCL can also be stored long term through freezing and dissolving process.

Indication

Osteoarthritis, Hepatopathy, Immunological Disease, etc.

PRP business

AdipoSeeds has launched to provide the technical support of PRP therapy by Keio University Hospital since 2024. PRP therapy is developed based on the ability of platelets to repair tissue. Platelets are extracted from patient's own blood and injected into the affected area.

Cytokines included in platelets and their functions

PDGF
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor
Proliferation of fibroblast, vascular smooth muscle cell, etc.
Tissue Repair
TGF-β
Transforming Growth Factor-β
Control of cell proliferation and differentiation
Promotion of apoptosis
Control of inflammatory and immunity function

We will implement high-quality PRP preparation based on AdipoSeeds’ unique techniques obtained from the development of regenerative medicine. We will also accumulate data on the relationship between PRP quality and therapeutic efficacy and establish a system to provide evidence-based PRP therapy.
